Here are the quick insights from the RRB JE CBT 2 Cut Off documents:
Scores are a "Merit Index," Not Percentages: The cut-offs are not marks out of 100. They are a normalized "Merit Index," which is why you see scores in the 700s, 800s, and even 900s.
The Specific Post (
CAT_NO) Matters Most: The biggest factor affecting the cut-off is the specific job post. Within the same zone, cut-offs for different posts can vary by over 100 points, showing huge differences in competition.Highly Competitive Zones: Zones like Gorakhpur, Mumbai, and Prayagraj show extremely high cut-offs, often requiring scores well above 800 for the General (UR) category in popular posts.
Reserved vs. General Cut-offs: You might notice a reserved category (OBC, SC, etc.) cut-off is higher than the General (UR) one for the same post. This is not an error; it happens when candidates use a reservation benefit in the first exam (CBT-1).
RRB JE Minimum Qualifying Marks
The minimum percentage of marks required for eligibility in the RRB JE 2nd Stage CBT is as follows:
| Category | Minimum Passing Marks |
|---|---|
| UR | 40% |
| OBC | 30% |
| SC | 30% |
| ST | 25% |
Note: This percentage may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates if there is a shortage of PwBD candidates for reserved vacancies.
