Application Fees

• Preliminary Examination Fee: Rs. 100/-

• Candidates shortlisted for both Group II and Group IIA main examinations must pay Rs. 300/-.
• Fee exemptions are applicable for specific categories as per government rules.

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit (as on 01.07.2025)

• For "Others" Category (not belonging to SC/SC(A)/ST/MBC/DC/BC/BCM):
  • The maximum age limit is generally 32 years for most posts.
  • For Probation Officer posts, the maximum age is 32 or 42 years depending on the department.
  • For Sub Registrar, Grade-II, the minimum age is 20 and the maximum is 32 years.
• For SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBCs/DCs, BC(OBCM)s, BCMs and Destitute Widows:
  • There is "No maximum age limit" for most posts.
  • For the post of Forester, the maximum age is 37 years.
• Age concessions are applicable for Persons with Benchmark Disability and Ex-Servicemen as per rules. Candidates are advised to check the official notification for detailed post-wise age limits.

Educational Qualification

• A degree from any University recognised by the University Grants Commission is the essential qualification for almost all posts.
• Specific Qualifications/Preferences:
  • Forester: A Bachelor's Degree in Science or Engineering in specified subjects (e.g., Agriculture, Forestry, Botany, Zoology, Engineering, etc.).
  • Probation Officer: Preference may be given to candidates with degrees in Sociology or Psychology or relevant diplomas.
  • Assistant Inspector (Labour): Preference for M.A. in Social Work or other specified diplomas.
• Candidates must have adequate knowledge of Tamil.

How to Apply

1. Candidates must first register under the One-Time Registration (OTR) system on the TNPSC website https://apply.tnpscexams.in. The OTR registration is valid for 5 years.
2. After OTR, log in using your User ID and Password.
3. Click on the "APPLY" button against the "Combined Civil Services Examination - II (Group II and IIA Services)" notification.
4. Fill out the online application form with all the required details carefully.
5. Upload a recent photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size.
6. Pay the examination fee through the available online payment modes (Net Banking / Credit card / Debit card / UPI).
7. Review the application form before final submission.
8. Submit the application and save or print a copy for your records.
