Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the following educational requirements to be eligible for the CTET February 2026 exam.
Eligibility for Paper I (Primary Level: Classes I-V)

Must have completed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50%
marks and passed or be appearing in the final year of a two-year Diploma in
Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.).
OR - Must have completed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% of the possible points and passed or be appearing in the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
Eligibility for Paper II (Upper Primary Level: Classes VI-VIII)

Must have completed graduation and passed or be enrolled in a two-year
D.El.Ed. program with at least 50% marks in graduation.
OR - Must have obtained a B.Ed. degree with a 50% grade at graduation.
CTET February 2026 Exam Pattern
The CTET exam is an offline, pen-and-paper (OMR-based) test. It consists of two objective-type papers. A key highlight is that there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Paper I Syllabus (Primary Stage – Classes I-V)
- Child Development & Pedagogy (30 Questions): Principles of child development, Influence of heredity & environment, Theories of Piaget, Kohlberg & Vygotsky, Child-centered and progressive education, Inclusive education, Teaching strategies.
- Language I (30 Questions): Reading comprehension (prose, poetry), Language acquisition, Grammar, Challenges in diverse classrooms, Remedial teaching.
- Language II (30 Questions): Two unseen prose passages (literary, narrative, scientific), Principles of language learning, Bilingual teaching, Grammar and language skills.
- Mathematics (30 Questions): Numbers, Geometry, Shapes, Time, Money, Measurement, Data Handling, Volume, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division. Pedagogical issues like the nature of mathematics and remedial teaching.
- Environmental Studies (30 Questions): Family & Friends, Food, Shelter, Water, Travel, Animals, Plants, Things We Make & Do. Pedagogical issues like the scope of EVS and practical activities.
Paper II Syllabus (Upper Primary Stage – Classes VI-VIII)
- Child Development & Pedagogy (30 Questions): Development of elementary school children, Role of environment and socialization, Piaget, Kohlberg & Vygotsky's theories, Assessment, Inclusive education, Motivation and learning difficulties.
- Language I & II (30 + 30 Questions): Syllabus is similar to Paper I but with a higher difficulty level, focusing on comprehension, grammar, and teaching strategies for older children.
